Walks in the salt marshes or in the heart of the garrigue, observation of insects and birds, visits to vineyards... These are all experiences that the Tourist Office offers you during a "Nature outing".
Discovery of emblematic placesWhether you are a connoisseur of the wilderness that makes up the Thau Archipelago or an initiate, each "Nature outing" is a great opportunity for you to learn more about the history, fauna and flora that make up the archipelago.
We invite you to meet us near the Occitan villages of Balaruc-les-Bains, Frontignan and Loupian to (re)discover the terraces of the Gardiole, the old salt marshes, the Aresquiers wood, the abbey of Saint-Félix, the gulf of Aigues-Mortes...
So, open your eyes wide so as not to miss anything of the landscapes of the Thau lagoon and the Mediterranean Sea which are taking shape before you.
Somewhat unusual "Nature outings"...If you prefer to add a little spice to your escapade in the preserved environments of the Thau Archipelago, we recommend that you opt for a more unusual "Nature outing". Among those proposed by the Intercommunal Tourist Office, our favourite is two of them.
For the little ones, suggest that they become a "Salt Buccaneer" for an hour in the old salt marshes. As well as seeing the astonishing ballet of birds over this vast white expanse, they can slip into the shoes of a salt worker and discover all the secrets of salt.
For the older ones, we challenge you to venture alone into the old salt pans, but this time at night. Well, almost alone, since you will be accompanied by Laurent, guide for "Salins by Night". This astonishing experience, in addition to confronting you with various emotions, will allow you to find your bearings thanks to the constellations and to walk in the footsteps of the ancient salt workers.
Visit our ticket office every month to discover the new "Nature outings" and their themes: cultural, gourmet...
How about a thematic workshop?Another option for your "Nature outings": a thematic workshop! If you have the soul of an artist in you, then you will easily find inspiration during a Land Art workshop or during a painting course... All this using the tools that Mother Nature puts at your disposal.
If, on the other hand, it is the reward at the end of the walk that motivates you or if you want to make your taste buds vibrate during this experience, it is better to opt for a "Nature outing" on the theme of "Terroir". You will have the opportunity to visit a farmhouse and taste local wines, or to visit a shellfish farm and accompany your glass with a plate of oysters.
Our tipsWhatever your choice of "Nature outings", we recommend that you bring good hiking shoes, a bottle of water and a cap, as well as sun cream in the summer.
If you are a keen birdwatcher, you should also bring a pair of binoculars with you, as this will make the experience even more exciting.
