Autumn holidays: 5 family experiences in the Thau Archipelago

Presentation

On holiday, it's not always easy to please everyone! However, the Thau Archipelago offers a lot of good addresses and great escapades to make up memorable days, with young and old alike. Follow the guide!

Dinosaur Park Museum

Ready for a trip back in time? Head to Mont-Mèze for a visit to Europe's largest museum park dedicated to dinosaurs and prehistory. In this large wooded park, located in the heart of an exceptional palaeontological site, your children will shiver with pleasure! Life-size reproductions of dinosaurs, fossils, educational films... All the elements are there to learn and be amazed. Your visit continues in a second part of the park, dedicated to Man and his evolution, which will undoubtedly delight the older children.

A booklet is given to children at the entrance to the park. All they have to do is tick off the right answers to obtain a precious diploma at the end of the visit. A great souvenir to take home to remember the good times spent on holiday... And to end this adventure in style, a mini dig site awaits you, unless you prefer a well-deserved snack in the site's picnic area.

Visit the Saint-Louis lighthouse

To enjoy the spectacular view of the port of Sète from the Saint-Louis lighthouse, you will have to walk along the mole, a 650-metre long gravel road, and climb the 126 steps to this incredible lookout point. But once you reach the top, your efforts will be amply rewarded! A magnificent 360° panorama of the commercial port, the marina and the old town will be offered to you. Enough to make your head spin!

To buy your tickets, nothing could be easier: go to the lighthouse. The visit is free for children under 12, so take advantage of it!

Donkey ride

With Beau nez d'âne, starting from Gigean, explore the Gardiole massif without effort!

Before leaving, the children groom their donkeys, brush them and pamper them in order to get to know them. Once the introductions have been made, it's off for a walk on a scrubland path that will lead you to the remains of the majestic Saint-Félix de Montceau abbey. Equipped with a small canvas bag indicating the route to follow, you will also be given instructions for a little treasure hunt.

The walk lasts about 2h30. Bring walking shoes so as not to hurt yourself on the stony paths. You can also bring a snack or a picnic, to be enjoyed in the shade of the pines with a breathtaking view of the abbey.
